8 Crazy Piagets and Why I Love Them

I would argue that right now, on windvintage.com, we have one of the most compelling collections of vintage Piaget watches. Here are some of my favorites and why I think they are interesting watches.
Piaget Polo Reference 15562 C 701 Unpolished
The Piaget Polo is an iconic wristwatch model that was first released in 1979. This particular reference features the day and date functions. Personally, having the date function on a watch seems very practical to me. You will never lose track of what day it is! This Polo also has very interesting drilled minute markers, which are often times found on vintage Patek Philippe watches.

2. Piaget Polo Lapis Dial Reference 15562 C 701 In 18k Yellow Gold Unpolished
Lapis lazuli, a stone with a deep blue color, has been showcased in jewelry since the ancient Egyptian times, over 7,000 years ago. Piaget first introduced stone dials into their watches in 1963. This Piaget Polo reference 15562 C 701 features an incredible lapis lazuli dial. There really is no other dial that comes close to having the character of a lapis lazuli dial. The richness of the blue gives this watch such beauty.

3. Piaget Polo Reference 15562 C 701 In 18k Yellow and White Gold Unpolished
Two-tone watches are coming back in style, and I love this example with 18k yellow gold and white gold. I love how the alternating yellow and white gold links flow seamlessly into the dial. Although the watch features a quartz movement, it does not take away from the sophistication of the watch.

4. Piaget Reference 9131 C4
The original owner of this Piaget reference 9131 C4 was Johnny Cash’s personal talent manager, Saul Holiff. The case back features an engraving: “S. I. H. NOV. 61” watch in celebration of singing a management contract with Johnny Cash. This is an incredible watch with, or without the provenance. The sunburst dial is beautiful and pairs wonderfully on this brick style, integrated bracelet, which was very well made by Piaget.

5. Piaget Emperador Reference 9131 C 151 Factory Diamonds In 18k yellow gold
This Piaget Emperador reference 9131 C 151 is an absolute beauty and will not be worn unnoticed! While I love the presidential bracelet on my 26mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 67198, this is one of the most compelling bracelets that I have seen. I love the pattern of the yellow gold links and the diamond set links, which truly make this a glamours watch!

6. Piaget Diamond Set 4354 in 18K White Gold Unpolished w/ box
This diamond set Piaget reference 4354 is truly a statement piece. I love how the diamonds do not stop with the bracelet and how the dial is set with diamonds as well. Today, a watch similar to this one would be practically 3 times the price of this vintage piece- an amazing deal on an amazing watch. This would be an excellent choice of watch for any ball or gala!

7. Piaget 12P Tiger Eye Reference 12731 Unpolished
In ancient Rome, Tiger Eye stones were believed to offer a sense of protection to Roman soldiers when wearing it in battle. One thing that I love about tiger eye dials is that no two of them are the same. Each Tiger Eye stone makes every watch uniquely different. Often tiger eye dials are seen in Rolex Day-Dates, so it is very interesting to see a vintage Piaget with one. The unpolished, gold case enhances the rich, golden red and brown in this dial.

8. Piaget Jade Dial 12P Reference 12423 In 18K Unpolished
I absolutely love the green, Jade stone dials, as it is not something that you often come across. The watch does not feature hour markers, which really makes the dial pop and gives the watch a clean look. The textured, integrated bracelet completes the look of this watch, seamlessly fitting into the case.
