Gallet Chronograph PVD with Bracelet Unpolished

This black PVD-coated Gallet chronograph measures 40mm in diameter and approximately 42.5mm lug-to-lug. The chronograph includes a day and date calendar and is powered by the workhorse automatic Valjoux 7750 movement. The inner bezel features a tachymeter scale, and the watch has a contrasting red chronograph hand. Gallet calls this the Gallet Multichron 12 Automatic Chronograph PVD and it is not a common model.

This watch dates to the 1970s-1980s. It came from the son of the original owner, who was a pilot. Remarkably, it has the original PVD-coated Novavit SA (or NSA for short) Swiss-made bracelet, which is very long. The crown is original, but the coating shows some wear as that is wear you touch the watch to set the time.

Tom Cruise wore a watch just like this in Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick that was branded by Orfina for Porsche Design, but was otherwise identical. It also came on this style of bracelet.

The watch does not come with a box or papers. It was just serviced and is running well. The case is unpolished, of course, otherwise the PVD coating could have been rubbed off during the polish. The PVD coating is original and not redone on this watch.

Overall, this is an extremely cool and special watch that we love! Now that Gallet has been acquired by Breitling and is in the process of being restarted, I wonder if the company will make a reissue?
