Heuer Carrera Reference 1158CH in 18K Yellow Gold Unpolished
The gold gold Carrera 1158 models are considered grail chronographs. The Heuer Carrera reference 1158 is an incredibly special reference and distinguished as being Jack Heuer’s favorite watch. This example is certainly one of the best preserved examples in the world. The earliest examples feature CHRONOMATIC font on the dials. I believe there are only two known examples - it is not clear whether the dials were born in those cases. The second examples were the 1158S featuring the silver dial. The present example comes in a third series, the reference 1158CH (CH referring to the gold champagne dial). The last series were the reference 1158CHN - the CH referring to the gold champagne dial with N (Noir/black) registers. These are associated with the Ferrari racing team, although Mario Andretti actually had a 1158CH as seen in his Talking Watches video.
The Carrera reference 1158CH is a particularly important model in vintage Heuer and racing history. Heuer was focused on building a relationship with the Ferrari racing team and this began in the 1970s. Jack Heuer would end up providing a purported 15 examples of the Carrera reference 1158 to Ferrari F1 drivers - including Mario Andretti. It is believed that 200 examples in total were produced across all variants.
The watch features a beautiful champagne dial. The case is made of 18k yellow gold. It measures 38mm in diameter. It appears to be unpolished. The caseback is decorated with a 25 year anniversary to an employee at H. Mino & Ses Fils (A Swiss industrial company). Finding an incredible vintage Heuer Carrera is quite uncommon, and this is even more uncommon in precious metal.
We do not know the service history, but the watch is running well. It does not come with a box or papers.
