Jaeger-LeCoultre Étier Retailed by Hermès

Jaeger-LeCoultre Étrier Retailed by Hermès

Hermès is renowned for its modern production of luxury goods, yet the company’s history as a retailer is not as understood by those who are focused more on horology. However, they have always added much more than six letters on a dial. There is a romanticism embodied within the timepieces sold at Hermès. Whether the watches and movements were produced by Universal Genève, Tavannes, or, in this case, Jaeger-LeCoultre, the synergy between the historic retailer and haute horlogerie is simply magical.

The present Étrier is incredibly special in the fact that it is much larger than the typical models we see in the marketplace. The dial is marvelously preserved, featuring crisp legibility through the black painted Breguet numerals in a slightly more playful way than the Breguet numerals we see on other watches, such as from Patek Philippe. While the dial and baton hands are very much traditional, the case makes for a fanciful design on the wrist. The lugs are dramatically stylized, and perhaps were somewhat of an inspiration for the modern Slim d’Hermès. This Értier dates to the 1960s, is made of 18k gold, is on what appears to be the original 1960s Hermès brown leather strap, and is in magnificent, unpolished condition.
