Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Ref. E168 in 18k Yellow Gold Unpolished
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic is, in my view, one of the most elegant “tool watches” ever made. Designed to withstand high magnetic fields and introduced during the “International Geophysical Year” that ran from July 1957 to December 1958, the Geophysic was introduced primarily in steel with a very small number made in gold. This example is in phenomenal condition, the case appears to be unpolished. The watch features a manual-wind movement (Caliber 478BWSbr made by Jaeger-LeCoultre), and measures approximately 35mm in diameter and 43mm lug-to-lug. It is paired with a green leather strap and an 18k yellow gold signed JLC buckle.
The watch does not come with a box or papers. We do not know the service history, but it is running well.
