Piaget Mexican “Centenario” 50 Pesos Coin Watch in 18K Yellow Gold Unpolished
Coin watches are remarkable creations which are both extremely uncommon and very difficult to create. Made from two coins, they are an interesting blend of horology, numismatics, and history. More often than not, these coins would begin as legal tender, then would require a skilled coin maker to dissect two sides, carve an interior within each to house the timepiece, and finally reconstruct the two sides in a hinged fashion.
Piaget is amongst the most sophisticated watchmakers involved in creating these timepieces. This example is an exceptional testament to the art.
It is a rare and highly-coveted Mexican “Centenario” 50 pesos gold coin. It is considered one of the most valuable and beautiful Mexican coins ever made. A Rolex coin watch made from one of these 1947 Centenario coins sold for 84,000 CHF at auction in November 2024.
These are the ultimate horological accessories and way cooler than any Audemars Piguet that you could purchase today. We are elated to offer this timepiece. It is one of Charlie and Eric’s favorite coin watches and they will be bowing down and worshiping the next owner.
We do not know the service history, but it is running great. It does not come with box or papers.
