The best thing I’ve worn all year has been the unpolished Rolex Explorer II reference 1655 that I acquired earlier this year. It is an early model with thinner case and straight seconds hand. I confess that when I first got into vintage Rolex watches, the 1655 was not really a watch that appealed to me as much as other models. However, as time went along, I became obsessed. I had an amazing early example that I traded to a client for a Mercedes-Benz and have been looking for a replacement ever since. It was gratifying to finally find one.
