‘Wind Vintage, a Palm Beach-based specialist in the most collectible vintage watches, immediately received four offers for the watch when it was advertised for a cool $500,000, and sold it for its full list price.

Wind Vintage owner Eric Wind, says the best and rarest modern pre-owned and vintage watches are seeing demand at an all time high.

“It is an interesting time in the watch field and one that I felt was coming for a long time: watches have become more of a passion investment category with new records continually being broken for outstanding vintage and independent watches while at the same time a significant portion of the Swiss watch industry seems to generally be struggling in selling watches,” he tells WatchPro.

“Personally, I have never seen the collectible watch market hotter than it is today. The velocity with which we are selling the watches, frequently selling the watches within minutes of listing the watch on our site, is mind-blowing, but there is a broad diversity of highly-educated buyers who are collecting them so it is not isolated to a specific and narrow group of buyers that would mean the market is fragile and risky,” he suggests.”
