Rolex Explorer I Gilt Dial Ref 1016 w/ Box & Service Papers
The Rolex Explorer reference 1016 is one of the purest expressions of watch design, and it is for this reason that I am probably asked for vintage Explorer reference 1016s more than any other watch. This model features a gilt dial and dates to circa 19667 with a 1.59M serial. It is paired on a stretch 7206 Rolex bracelet with 58 end links dating to 4th quarter of 1966.
The dial is extremely attractive. There is a slight mark below the pinion, which is very hard to notice without a loupe. The case is 36mm in diameter. It has polished in the past but is attractive on the wrist. For those looking for an amazing gilt 1016, this is a fantastic option!
The watch comes with a box and service papers from 2022. It recently passed a water resistance test of 5 bar. It features a replacement crystal.
