Rolex Explorer I Mark 2 Matte Dial Reference 1016 Unpolished

I can’t say enough great things about the Rolex Explorer reference 1016. It is one of the purest expressions of watch design, and it is for this reason that I am probably asked for vintage Explorer reference 1016s more than any other watch. This example has a rare “Mark 2” Matte dial which is extremely rare. It also is outstanding in the fact it has an unpolished case measuring 36mm in diameter (43mm lug-to-lug).

This example dates to circa 1971 and features a 2.2M serial number. The watch is paired on a Rolex reference 7836 rivet bracelet with 258 end links with a clasp code dating to circa 1971.

The watch does not come with box and papers.
