Rolex Explorer Honeycomb Dial Oyster-Perpetual Air-King Reference 5504 36mm Unpolished

The Rolex Air-King reference 5504 is a rare and oversized Oyster Perpetual model which measures 36mm (43mm lug-to-lug). This example features the very faceted-arrow markers and the attractive numeral style found on models such as the Rolex Padellone, as well as various Patek Philippe and Movado models.

The reference 5504 is a rare model and finding examples with well preserved “honeycomb” dials is uncommon. The central second hand is heat-treated to a blue color. The case appears to be unpolished and the watch is paired on a 7206 Rivet bracelet by Rolex with 58 end links dating to 1966 which is in fantastic condition. The watch features a 371,XXX serial dating to circa 1958.

The watch does not come with box and papers. The service history is not known, but it is running great! It recently passed a water resistance test of 5 bar.
