Rolex Precision Reference 4583

The reference 4583 is one of my favorite time-only dress models from Rolex. In fact, it was one of my first vintage Rolex watches which I shared in a video interview with Crown & Caliber in 2017.

This watch dates to the 1950s. Its dial features a small crown and applied numeral at 12 (as well as at 6 o’clock), which is reminiscent of the Rolex “Padellone” reference 8171. The remaining hours feature applied dagger and pyramid markers also found on the more complicated Rolex. A very distinct attribute is the leaf or “feuille” hands which are seldomly seen in Rolex models beyond this era.

The steel case is very elegant and remains unpolished. It features down-turned lugs with crisp bevels. It is powered by the manual-wind calibre 700. The watch just recently had a service and is keeping excellent time.
