Rolex Submariner Transitional Reference 16800 w/ Box
The Rolex Submariner is one of the most renowned sports watches of all time. This reference 16800 is extremely cool and has a transitional matte dial whereas later examples had hour markers with white gold “surrounds” around the tritium luminous material. The tritium lume in the hands on the dial is very attractive. It is 40mm in diameter. This example features a 8.32M serial number dating to circa 1984. The case has been lightly polished.
The owner paid much more for this item than the asking price. I know some people who paid over $20k USA for a transitional 16800 like this and it is a good opportunity to “buy the dip” on this example. It has a sapphire crystal that is likely original and in good condition. The aluminum original bezel insert is likely original and is very attractive. The bracelet appears to be original and is a Rolex Oyster reference 93150 solid-link bracelet with 593 end links.

It does not come with papers, but it does come with a Rolex box that is period correct and possibly original. We do not know the service history, but it is running well. It recently passed a water resistance test of 3 bar.
