TUDOR U.S. Navy PCG Underline Submariner Reference 7928 Unpolished
This TUDOR Submariner reference 7928 is an extremely cool and special watch. The watch is a super rare U.S. Navy-issued TUDOR in unpolished and original condition. You never find them like this! U.S. Navy TUDOR Submariners are among the most desired military categories watches from the brand. The dial features the rare “Underline” designation signfiying a transition to tritium luminous material - although this still reads on a Geiger counter and was a transitional watch. The case features a 400,XXX serial dating to circa 1963. The case appears to be unpolished. It features the rare PCG (Pointed Crown Guards) case style. It features the original crystal which has wear and tear. It features the original “Skinny 4” or “Thin 4” insert, which has a beautiful fade.
The watch does not have box or papers. It recently passed a 5 bar water resistance test. We do not know the service history, but it is running well. A future service is recommended. The watch is being offered “As Is” and is a very raw find.
This watch was originally issued to Merwin Stanley “Stan” Follis who was issued the watch by the Navy when he joined the video branch of the Naval Electronics Laboratory Center after graduating from USC with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in cinema. Stan passed away earlier this year at the age of 92 after a successful career and the watch came from his estate. It is a miraculous find and a sort of American MilSub.
