GQ: Wind Vintage x True North Watch Rally Timer III
GQ recently wrote about the Wind Vintage x True North Watch Rally Timer III in the article ‘So Many Stellar Affordable Watches Are Dropping This Week’
“Eric Wind, the watch dealer behind Wind Vintage, typically trades in some of the finest (and priciest) timepieces on the market, ranging from ’60s-era Heuers priced in the mid-four figures to rare Patek Philippes going for nearly $300,000. At the moment, in fact, Wind is working on what should prove to be his biggest deal of the year: a Rolex “Paul Newman” Daytona that he expects to sell for over $1 million.
This is the third iteration of what’s lovingly referred to in watch circles as the “Windtona.” Wind and True North’s collaborative chronographs retail for wallet-friendly prices, but they don’t stay there. Despite selling for less than $400 both the white- and black-dial versions of the Windtona now sell for multiples of that—over $1,000 in some cases!—on eBay.”
